Personality: At the beginning of the series, Willow is shy, awkward and nerdy. She's surprised when Buffy approaches her after witnessing her being bullied by Cordelia earlier in the day, assuming the two were friends, and telling Buffy she couldn't legally hang out with both of them. Buffy is looking for help getting caught up with her classes, having heard that Willow is a straight A student, and showing how easily she can trust others, Willow still happily agrees.
Willow proves herself a skilled hacker early on by accessing plans of the city's sewer system to try to help save the group's friend, Jesse. She's asked by Giles if the plans are accessible to the public, and she admits that she decrypted Sunnydale's city council's security system. She says she wants to help save Jesse, but isn't keen to go into a dark sewer full of monsters, so Giles recruits her to help with research, a role she continues in. Although after falling asleep in the library, and Giles overhearing her say in her sleep, "don't warn the tadpoles" she does confess to him that she has a fear of frogs.
As she matures, she develops more self confidence and is able to become more assertive, even admonishing both Giles and Angel for their treatment of Buffy at one point in her junior year. The same year, she starts dating a musician named Oz, who turns out to be a werewolf. She's gained enough confidence at this point to be able to confront Oz when she feels like he's been sending her mixed messages, and not taking their relationship as seriously as she would like. He attacks her, Buffy, and Giles during the full moon, and after all three of them are knocked to the ground, she's the one who grabs the tranquilizer gun to knock Oz out, saving them all. Afterwards Oz says maybe it's best if he stays out of her way for awhile, but she responds by telling him that she likes him in her way, and "three days out of the month she's not fun to be with either."
She also learns that her childhood friend and crush, Xander, has become involved with Cordelia, the student who, along with her other friends, have bullied Willow for years. She tries to avoid the confrontation, but when Xander pushes, she does express her shock, and disgust, and tells Xander they are not okay. She is also willing to set her feelings aside, though, to help look for a way to defeat an extremely powerful demon who is capable of burning the humanity out of people. She does move past the hurt feelings and resumes her friendship with Xander, and also accepts Cordelia as part of their group.
She stands by Buffy after Buffy sleeps with Angel, causing him to lose his soul and revert to his evil persona, Angelus, and is the first of the group to go back to talking to computer teacher Jenny Calendar for not being forthcoming about her connection to the gypsies who originally cursed him. Jenny asks Willow to cover her class for her, expecting to be late one morning, and this leads to Principal Snyder offering Willow the position for the remainder of the school year after Jenny's death. It was Jenny's death, and subsequent discovery of her translation of the Ritual of Restoration that led Willow to confess that she's been researching the black arts for fun, and that she might be able to pull off the spell to restore Angel's soul. With Angelus determined to destroy the world, Willow was set on making the attempt, even after being warned of the potential danger. Her first attempt was interrupted due to a vampire attack on the group at the school library, leading to a head injury, resulting in a coma. She made a second attempt from her hospital bed shortly after waking up, which was successful, but unbeknownst to her, not until after Angelus had already begun the ritual to bring about a demon to end the world, forcing Buffy to kill him, which prompted her to leave Sunnydale unannounced.
Willow continued to work to develop her talent for magic throughout her senior year, starting with simple spells, but she did at one point over the summer try to contact the spirit world before she was prepared for it, blowing out power to her whole block as well as feeling as though she was being pulled apart inside. Giles does try to warn her to be cautious, and she assures him she is only trying simple spells.
With Buffy gone for the summer, Willow, Oz, Cordelia, and Xander all took up the fight in Sunnydale, trying to hunt down vampires with moderate success. It was awkward at first, culminating in Willow lashing out at Buffy when she discovered the latter was considering running away a second time, before confessing how abandoned she felt without her. It leads to an argument with Buffy, her mother, Xander, and Oz at a welcome home party in full view of their fellow classmates. Zombies crash the party when Willow sarcastically says since talking isn't resolving the issue, they may as well try violence. Willow tends not to stay angry long, though, and she forgives Buffy quickly, putting the incident behind them.
The same year, she and Xander develop a growing attraction for each other, and end up sharing a kiss while being held hostage, believing they're going to be killed. They're caught by Oz and Cordelia, who came to rescue them, but Oz and Willow did manage to work through the incident after several weeks.
At one point, Willow was taken hostage by Sunnydale's mayor and rogue Slayer Faith, while the former was trying to finalize a ritual to allow himself to become a pure demon. Willow was able to levitate a pencil to stake a vampire to try to escape, but was distracted when she found a set of books key to the Mayor's plan. She spent some time reading the books, and managed to smuggle a few pages away that looked like they would contain valuable information before Faith found her. She was freed only when her friends chose to trade the Box of Gavork, a mystical chest the mayor needed, for her life. She goes on to fight on the front lines aside her friends when the Mayor achieved his goal of ascension during the high school graduation ceremony.
Willow chooses to stay in Sunnydale to attend college, despite having the opportunity to attend more prestigious schools, so she could continue to fight the forces of evil along side Buffy. Her skill with magic continues to grow, although there are a couple incidents of spells backfiring, most notably a spell to have her will be done work far too effectively. The result is the boss/master of a group of vengeance demons offering her the chance to join them. She declined the offer, and undid the spell. This spell was cast after Oz left town out of fear of putting Willow in danger after a brief indiscretion with another werewolf, leaving Willow devastated.
Shortly after, Willow joins an on campus Wiccan group, hoping to find other witches. She's disappointed to discover none of the other members even believed magic was real, except for Tara, who, like Willow had been years before, was very shy and quiet. The two discover the other's power, while facing a dangerous situation together. They start off as friends, meeting to practice magic together, and eventually Willow introduces Tara to the rest of her friends, and the two develop a discreet relationship, although she does eventually come out to her friends. She does confide in Tara a second fear - horses, due to a bad experience with a pony as a small child.
The following year sees Willow's abilities continue to grow in leaps and bounds, and she begins becoming more reckless, making some more frivolous choices when it comes to using magic (for example, floating items at the Magic Box for the sake of irritating Anya). She still has some struggles controlling her spells, accidentally destroying the cash register, and releasing a troll god from a crystal he was trapped in. She also begins to attempt more difficult spells, such as a teleportation spell she attempted on a powerful goddess from a hell dimension with Tara's help. The spell was successful, but caused Willow to collapse with a nosebleed, and when asked, she confessed she wasn't sure where she sent Glory.
Willow displays a moment of insecurity in her first argument with Tara, because Tara sides with Buffy over concerns about Dawn's schoolwork, as after the death of Buffy's mother, she is now responsible for her younger sister. Willow feels insecure because she feels like Tara has been doing everything longer than her - Tara has been practicing magic longer, she's been out longer, and she, like Buffy, has also lost a parent. Tara points out that even though she's been practicing witchcraft longer, Willow is significantly more powerful, and it's frightening, as she worries that Willow is getting in too deep too fast. Willow interprets this as mistrust, and leaves, believing Tara doesn't take her seriously. She goes to Giles afterwards who tries to reassure her that once they apologize to each other, they'll know they can fight without the world ending. Moments later, though, it's revealed that Glory believes Tara is the key to returning to her home dimension, and Willow leaves to attempt a rescue. She arrives just in time to witness Glory feeding on the energies that bind Tara's mind, leaving her insane.
Buffy tries to talk Willow down from seeking revenge, and Willow agrees to stand down, but raids the Magic Box for supplies, and launches a series of powerful, sustained attacks on Glory. She does manage to hold her own for a time, and even does manage to do a bit of harm to the god, although ultimately Glory does get the upper hand. Luckily, Buffy is able to intervene, and thanks to one of Willow's spells, they're both able to escape. Willow ends up devoting herself to caring for Tara in the meantime.
In the final confrontation with Glory, Buffy acknowledges Willow's power, calling her the "big gun" because she's the only one who's ever managed to hurt Glory even slightly, and she reluctantly steps into the role. During the final fight, Willow manages to restore Tara by reversing Glory's "brain-sucking" power, communicates telepathically with Spike to alert him to the danger Dawn is facing, and together, her and Tara are able to clear the way of other humans Glory had incapacitated.
It ends up with a pyrrhic victory, with Buffy sacrificing herself to save her sister, and the world. Willow and Tara step up into a parental role for Dawn, moving into the family home. Willow manages to convince herself, and the others, that since Buffy died closing the portal to a hell dimension, that means that's where she's trapped, and they need to rescue her, leading her to begin researching how to bring someone back from the dead.
(added to account for canon update)
Willow's use of magic became problematic as she began casting spells excessively where more mundane methods could have been used. It became a contentious issues between her and partner, Tara, and after an argument, Willow used a spell to wipe the memory of the argument from Tara's mind.
Upon learning resurrecting Buffy had pulled her from a pleasant afterlife as opposed to a hell dimension, Willow suggested wiping her memories, prompting another argument, where Tara revealed that she knew about the memory spell that was used on her. This argument prompted Willow to swear off magic for a week, desperate to avoid Tara breaking up with her. She breaks her promise almost immediately, using magic to get dressed, and then attempts to cast the memory spell on both Buffy and Tara, hoping to make them forget the damage she's done. The spell backfires and affects all of them, and once the spell is broken, Tara breaks up with Willow.
Willow's addiction continued to spiral out of control. She managed to turn a former classmate, Amy, back into a human, after she had turned herself into a rat three years prior. The pair show a particular disregard for those around them by casting spells to change the other patrons at a club, and the environment itself, for their own amusement.
Amy introduced Willow to Rack, a warlock who was able to induce a magical high, and after the first visit, Willow took Buffy's youngster sister, Dawn, back the next night on the way to the movies. She promised she would not be long, but did not emerge until after the movie was long over. She had unintentionally summoned a demon, and the two attempted to escape after Dawn was attacked with Willow attempting to drive a car using magic. She ended up crashing the car, and knocking herself unconscious, and breaking Dawn's arm. The demon attacked a second time, and likely would have killed them both had Buffy and Spike not arrived. This was the realization Willow needed to swear off magic.
Not long after Willow decided to give up magic, she and Tara rekindled their relationship, but within days Tara was unintentionally killed by Warren Meers, while trying to shoot Buffy. Willow, as a result, immediately threw herself back into using magic. Her first attempt was to call on Osiris to resurrect Tara - this was refused as Tara's death was not caused by supernatural means and attempting to bring her back would interfere with natural order.
Willow followed this with a rampage that resulted in the death of both Warren and Rack, as well as attacks on her friends. Giles arrived from England to stop her with magic borrowed from a coven there. His intention was that she would absorb the magic from him and it would tap into the humanity she had left and convince her to back down. Instead, she was able to feel all the pain and grief in the world and decided to end it. She was talked down in the end by Xander, her childhood friend, who reminded her who she really was and that, in spite of everything that had happened, he, among others, still loved her.
After nearly destroying the world, Giles took Willow back to England with him to learn to control her powers from the coven in Devon he originally borrowed it from. She initially thought she was being taken back to be punished or imprisoned, and was surprised to learn they intended to help her instead. She described them as the most amazing women she had ever met, but struggled some with the idea that they were also afraid of her and what she could do. She did tell Giles that she wished they could just take the power away from her, and he reminded her that it wouldn't be possible. Overall, she came through the experience with a better understanding of her magic and how to control it as opposed to allowing it to control her, although she lacks confidence in her abilities and fears what will happen if, once again, she lets it overwhelm her.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping: Willow's primary ability lies in her magical skill, although the majority of her spells are more defensive than offensive. She a skilled computer user, and hacker as well.
For weaknesses, even though Willow can use magic, she is still human, and can still be harmed through all the normal ways.
Warping: Willow will still be able to use her basic spells with semi-regular backfires, or fizzles. The bigger, or more complex the spell, though, the more severe the consequences she'll be stuck trying to contend with.

Are you comfortable with prominent elements of fourth-walling?: Yup
What themes of horror/psychological thrillers do you enjoy the most?: Not super into the crazy gory stuff or jump scares. Give me the subtle, psychological horror that leaves more up to the imagination but still manages to make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. Ghosts, possession, demons, etc. Realistically, bring it all.
Is there anything in particular you absolutely need specific content warnings for?: Nope
Additional Information: Nothing comes to mind
